Dearest brother Jacob,
To begin with, I want you to know that, thank the Lord, I am still healthy and that I wish
the same good health to you and your whole family. And now, brother Jacob, wife and children,
let me tell you how things are going here. Things are very sad because our last crop was
[unclear wording] and so we are already sitting here with no bread or meat to eat. If we don't
get any help, things will be worse than in 1921, when our German brothers in America had
also had to come to our aid to keep us from starving.
Brother, if it is still possible and not too difficult for you, please help us out a little
and write to let me know how things are going for you over there in America. Hope to hear
from you soon. With best regards from the whole family, I remain,
Your sister Marie Elisabeth Ring
